A preamp designed as a complete recording chain

The Skulpter 500 is not limited to amplifying a microphone: it was designed as a compact recording solution, capable of ensuring preamplification quality and providing, if needed, character and dynamic control even before entering your audio interface. Its philosophy is simple: start with a very pure signal path, then offer musical shaping tools to adapt the sound material to the style, the performer, and the upcoming mix.

For whom and for what: studio recording, home studio, and modern production

This preamplifier is aimed at sound engineers, musicians, and creators who want to save time during recording while maintaining true sonic standards. For vocals, it allows obtaining a present and controlled diction, with compression that can "glue" the take into the mix right from capture. On acoustic instruments, it highlights detail and dynamics without harshness, while offering precise low-end filtering to avoid unwanted vibrations. And as soon as it comes to recording a guitar, bass, synth, or effects chain, the symmetrical DI input with very wide headroom handles high levels calmly, delivering a clean, stable signal immediately usable in your DAW.

From transparency to color: key features that make the difference

100% Class-A discrete topology: a signal that stays alive

The Skulpter 500 is based on a 100% Class-A topology and a discrete component design. The result: preamplification that aims for fidelity, with a natural feel and nuanced transient response. This approach emphasizes circuit purity and signal processing that respects the source, whether it's a vocal mic, a dynamic mic on an amp, or a more delicate capture (strings, winds, ambience).

Audiophile gain structure: detail, control, and great clarity

The audiophile gain structure aims to maintain a clear and information-rich image. You benefit from a usable level, with a sense of depth and precision that helps place the take in a dense mix. This is especially appreciated for modern vocals, acoustic guitars, or any source where a fine timbre reading is sought without needing heavy post-processing.

Dual signal processing: filters and harmonics to shape the take

Need to stay neutral? The Skulpter 500 can be transparent. Want a more marked imprint? Its two stages of saturation/filtering allow adding harmonics and progressively shaping the spectrum. This dual approach helps thicken a vocal, give more body to a bass, make a synth stand out in the mix, or make a DI guitar sound more "amp-like" even before plugin processing.

Built-in intelligent compression: takes ready to produce

The built-in compressor is designed to be musical and effective, with an "intelligent" logic that facilitates achieving a coherent sound without spending minutes searching for settings. In practice, this means better-controlled peaks, more stable presence, and a more consistent level at your DAW input. Ideal for securing a vocal take (intensity variations, consonants), controlling a rhythm guitar, or stabilizing a bass without squashing it.

Variable high-pass filter: clean lows without impoverishing the source

The variable high-pass filter offers fine control of the low end, useful for eliminating handling noise, rumble, mic stand vibrations, or proximity effect. Since the setting is variable, you can precisely adapt the cutoff to the source: light cleaning on a vocal, stronger cleanup on an acoustic guitar, or preventive filtering before compression to avoid the low end driving the processor's behavior too much.

Symmetrical DI with very wide headroom: instruments and machines without compromise

The symmetrical DI is designed to accept high levels, with very large headroom. You can thus record an active bass, a guitar with pedals upstream, a powerful synth, or a drum machine without fearing unwanted saturation. It's also a solid base for reamping or building a hybrid chain: a clean DI take, already "tight" and possibly colored, ready to be processed ITB.

Multifunction indicator and detented controls: speed and repeatability

In session, precision saves time. The multifunction indicator facilitates monitoring levels, gain, compression, and clipping to avoid surprises during recording. The detented controls provide real reproducibility: you quickly find a setting, document a session more easily, and work with more consistency from one track to another.
