An ENGL Tool Designed for Playing and Recording Live, Without Compromise
With the Cabloader, ENGL transfers its "big sound" expertise into a pedal format oriented towards direct-to-PA and recording. The concept is simple: recreate the feel of a guitar cabinet miked up, without placing a mic, without bleed, and without relying on room acoustics. The built-in impulse responses (IRs) provide an immediately usable foundation, and the user slots allow you to adapt the pedal to your rig (preamp, drive pedals, amp simulator, multi-effects, etc.).
Within the range, the Cabloader positions itself as an end-of-chain link : it finalizes your sound (cabinet + mic + optional power amp) and converts it into a signal usable by the mixer, audio interface, or headphones.
Who Is It For, Which Styles, and In What Contexts?
The ENGL Cabloader is aimed at guitarists who want a credible sound both in studio and live, from beginner level (quick setup, immediate result) to pro level (fine-tuning and preset recall). It particularly shines in styles where a "mix-ready" capture is expected: rock, metal, hard rock, but it also remains precise and dynamic for blues, pop, or more ambient textures if your upstream chain is suitable.
In terms of usage, it quickly becomes indispensable: headphone rehearsals (dedicated output), amplifier-free concerts (balanced XLR output to front of house), light fly rig (one pedalboard + DI), or as a backup solution if your traditional miking (mic + cabinet) is not possible.

Questions frequently asked
Can the ENGL Cabloader be connected directly to a mixing console?
The balanced XLR DI output allows connection to a mixing console, featuring a ground lift switch. An unbalanced 6.35 mm jack output is also available.
Can personal IRs be loaded into this ENGL pedal?
The 4 user slots accept impulse responses loaded via the micro-USB port. IRs are processed at 24 bits, with a length of 1024 samples, i.e., 23.22 ms.
How to adjust the microphone simulation on the Cabloader?
The MIC selector chooses the microphone model. The Center and Distance controls adjust its position. This allows modifying the sound between a more centered capture and a more distant one.
Does the Cabloader have a headphone output?
A 3.5 mm jack headphone output is integrated for silent rehearsals without a cabinet.
Can it be used as a dummy load for an amp head?
The technical specifications indicate no dummy load. The 6.35 mm jack input has an Instrument/Line selector, and the Thru output allows sending the signal to another chain.
