MITUS 206LA: a passive Line Array solution designed for modular configurations

The FBT MITUS 206LA follows a modular diffusion approach: multiple elements are assembled to adapt coverage and reach to the venue, audience, and event type. Its compact format facilitates transport and deployment while retaining the hallmarks of a professional speaker: neodymium transducers, high power handling, and a rigging system allowing optimization of the dispersion angle according to the configuration.

Intended uses and target profiles

This speaker is aimed at sound contractors, installers, performance venues, places of worship, and event structures seeking a passive Line Array speaker capable of integration into an evolving system. It is particularly suited for applications where vertical directivity control (10deg) is desired to limit reflections and improve intelligibility, while benefiting from a wide horizontal coverage (100deg) to cover a broad audience.

Design, diffusion, and implementation

Recommended bi-amplification and external DSP management

Bi-amplification is recommended at 500 + 150 W RMS at 16 Ohms to best exploit the separation between low/mid and high frequencies. The crossover frequency is managed via an external DSP, allowing precise adjustment of filtering, equalization, and protection depending on the number of elements, subwoofer type, and venue acoustics.

Neodymium transducers: efficiency and dynamics

The MITUS 206LA features 2 x 6.5" (17cm) neodymium woofers with 1.7" voice coils to ensure presence and control in the low-mid range, as well as a 1.4" neodymium driver equipped with a 2.5" diaphragm for detailed high-frequency reproduction. This architecture targets precise listening, particularly useful for vocals and sources demanding intelligibility.

Controlled coverage and high output level

With a frequency response (-6 dB) from 75 Hz to 20 kHz, the speaker naturally integrates into a system with subwoofers to extend low-end support. Its Max SPL of 133 dB makes it a robust component for configurations requiring high levels without sacrificing clarity. The 100deg x 10deg dispersion is typical of a Line Array approach: wide horizontally and narrower vertically to better "aim" the audience.

SpeakOn connectivity and simplified daisy-chaining

Connection is via SpeakOn with a LINK output, convenient for chaining multiple speakers in the same line while maintaining clean cabling on site or in installations.
