The Jazzmaster spirit in a Japanese Hybrid II version
The Made in Japan Hybrid II series is based on a simple idea: retaining the visual identity of classic Fender models while offering playability suited to today's guitarists. This Jazzmaster therefore features the model's characteristic offset silhouette, with appointments that make both rhythm playing and lead passages easier.
Within the range, it is aimed at musicians who appreciate vintage lines without seeking a strictly historical reproduction. The Modern "C" profile, Narrow Tall frets and locking tuners illustrate this approach. The Matte Aero Blue finish, combined with the aluminium-look pickguard and Black nickel hardware, gives it a distinctly individual visual personality.
An electric guitar for exploring textures and nuances
This Jazzmaster electric guitar is particularly well suited to intermediate and advanced guitarists who want to alternate between open chords, arpeggios and expressive melodies. A motivated beginner can also find a durable instrument here, provided they take the time to become familiar with the floating vibrato and its adjustments.
Its two single-coil pickups make it possible to explore pop, indie rock, surf and more atmospheric sounds. With reverb, delay or modulation effects, it provides an interesting foundation for creating textures. Its electronics remain easy to understand: a volume control, a tone control and three pickup positions are all it takes to move from one register to another.
The 9.5-inch / 241 mm radius offers an appealing compromise between chord work and solo playing. The Narrow Tall frets provide a precise contact feel, while the satin finishing on the neck encourages smooth movement. The 25.5-inch / 648 mm scale length retains a firm response, which the light string gauge softens under the fingers.
Two Jazzmaster single-coil pickups and a vibrato for expressive playing
The Hybrid II Custom Voiced Single Coil Jazzmaster pickups are at the heart of this guitar's sonic character. Their single-coil design prioritizes clarity and sensitivity to picking dynamics. The bridge pickup delivers greater presence, while the neck pickup lends itself to rounder tones. The middle position combines both pickups to expand the available tonal palette.
The master volume adjusts the level sent to the amplifier and interacts with a slightly overdriven sound. The master tone control can soften the highs or preserve a more open attack. The 3-way selector provides direct access to all three combinations without adding extra controls: a practical layout for changing sounds during a song.
The alder body provides a versatile foundation, but the sonic result also depends on the pickups, the setup and the amplification. The rosewood key complements this construction without determining the tone on its own. The adjustable six-saddle bridge allows for precise intonation adjustments, while the floating vibrato provides pitch variations that are particularly well suited to wavering chords and phrase endings.
Recommended compatible accessories
To replace the strings while retaining the original gauge, choose a 0.009 to 0.042-inch / 0.23 to 1.07 mm nickel-plated steel electric guitar string set. Keeping the same gauge helps preserve the playing feel and limits adjustments related to changes in tension, particularly on an instrument equipped with a floating vibrato.
