Jodyjazz DV HR 6 - Alto

The DV HR Series: The Jody Jazz Spirit, Between Tradition and Innovation

Founded by Jody Espina, the Jody Jazz brand has established itself thanks to mouthpieces designed to meet the demands of discerning saxophonists, from advanced players to professionals. The DV HR series carries the DNA of the DV models with a decidedly modern approach: meticulous craftsmanship, hand finishes, and in-house innovations. The DV HR for alto saxophone positions itself as a high-end ebonite mouthpiece, designed to deliver power when you need to "cut" through the mix, while retaining enough roundness to stay musical on a ballad.

For Whom and in Which Styles?

This alto saxophone mouthpiece is aimed at intermediate, advanced, and professional musicians seeking easy playability, strong presence, and a wide expressive palette. It is well suited for jazz (combo, big band), pop, funk, and amplified settings where the alto must remain clear. Its balance also allows for softer, singing passages without tipping into an overly aggressive sound.

Sound and Design

Thanks to its DV concept and construction in ebonite, the DV HR Alto aims for a deep sound with solid projection and a stable feel in response. The secondary window helps to thicken the timbre, especially in the midrange and low register, for a more "authoritative" alto richer in harmonics. On the design side, the brand integrates a bite plate directly into the mouthpiece: practical for daily use and consistent with the DV aesthetic, featuring the gold "Phi" logo. For comfort and longevity, using a mouthpiece cushion on top is recommended.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

This mouthpiece comes with a pouch but without ligature or mouthpiece cap. For immediate use, plan to get a ligature for alto ebonite mouthpiece as well as a mouthpiece cap suitable for alto saxophone. Also add mouthpiece cushions to improve comfort and protect the bite area.
