A modern delay in the spirit of Keeley's great boutique pedals

Since its founding in Oklahoma City in 2001, Keeley has built a solid reputation thanks to a rigorous engineering approach and a careful selection of low-tolerance electronic components. Initially known for its pedal modifications that became cult favorites among many guitarists, Robert Keeley later developed a complete range of in-house effects designed for both stage and studio use. The RK2000 Funk Siren Delay fits this philosophy: an expressive, precise stereo delay deep enough to cover everyday pedalboard needs as well as more experimental textures.

Which guitarists (and situations) is the RK2000 made for?

The RK2000 is aimed at musicians who want an easy-to-set delay but capable of going far: funk, pop, rock, indie, post-rock, worship, ambient guitarists, as well as electro/live band players. Thanks to its stereo capability, it really shines on two amps, in a stereo effects loop, in a studio rig, or directly front-of-house with a modern setup.

The Tap Tempo and presets make it a natural ally for live use: you can lock the tempo of a song instantly, then recall your key settings (rhythm, solo, atmospheres) without bending over the pedalboard. And if you like to "play" the delay like an instrument, the Hold mode opens the door to infinite swells, drones, and cinematic transitions.

Controls, presets, and control: a delay designed to be played

The control section emphasizes efficiency, with knobs that respond immediately under your fingers: Input to adjust the input level, Blend to balance the mix between dry signal and effect, Feedback for the number of repeats, Filter to shape the brightness of the echoes, and Time to set the delay duration. Added to this are Depth and Rate controls that manage the LFO modulation to achieve wider, more organic, or distinctly vibrant repeats depending on the context.

The RK2000 offers a Hold function allowing infinite repeats and delay buffer capture: ideal for freezing a tail, creating a sound bed, then playing over it. A Clear function is also included to cleanly erase the buffer, handy when chaining songs or when you want to start fresh with a "blank" space. Finally, the feedback phase switching adds an extra character option, particularly interesting in stereo to explore different sensations of width and movement.

Regarding memory, you have 5 internal presets and an extended MIDI memory with 127 slots: perfect for a MIDI controller, rig switcher, or a setup that requires instant and repeatable changes. Dedicated LEDs clearly indicate tempo and modulation, a real comfort in the darkness of a stage.

Sound

The Keeley RK2000 Funk Siren Delay delivers a clean and precise stereo delay sound, with excellent clarity of repeats even when feedback is high. The Filter control is central to the setup: it allows you to go from clear echoes that cut through the mix to darker repeats that blend behind the playing, like a musical "halo." The LFO modulation then adds a sense of movement and width: subtle to thicken an arpeggio, more pronounced for floating atmospheres.

In practice, it responds very well to playing dynamics and level variations: an asset for guitarists who alternate fingerstyle, sharp pick attacks, and more open passages. Between the Tap Tempo (with subdivisions), the presets, and the Hold, the RK2000 can be both a perfectly dialed-in "utility" delay and a true sound creation tool.
