A reliable choice in the mid-range, this GV5 GOG is part of the series developed by Markbass alongside Andrew Gouché, a key figure in soul and gospel sounds. The goal is clear: to offer an instrument with a strong look, coherent equipment, and immediate playability, while maintaining a "plug and play" approach thanks to passive electronics and straightforward controls.

Who is it for, and in which styles?

Thanks to its ergonomics and intuitive controls, this bass suits both intermediate musicians seeking a reliable instrument for rehearsals and recording, and advanced bassists wanting a silent and effective "J Style" for live performance. It is particularly suited to funk, soul, pop, R&B, gospel, and rock genres, where attack precision and clarity in the low mids are essential.

The sound

The alder body provides a natural balance: present but clear lows, singing mids, and a consistent response across the neck. The maple neck and maple fretboard enhance attack and definition, with a fast feel under the fingers, ideal for articulated lines and dynamic nuances.

On the electronics side, the two MB Noiseless JJ Style pickups offer a "JJ" style palette: bridge pickup for bite and precision, neck pickup for foundation and warmth, and both together for a full and balanced sound. The passive wiring (2 volumes + 1 tone) allows fine blending of the pickups and softening of the highs to switch from a modern snap to a more vintage tone.
