The Markbass MB GV 5 Gloxy combines familiar ergonomics (body in P STYLE) with an MB JJ Style pickup configuration and a 3-band preamp. This blend offers a bass capable of covering very diverse registers while remaining easy to handle thanks to clear electronics and a comfort-oriented neck.

For Which Bassists and Styles?

This bass is especially aimed at intermediate to advanced bassists who want an effective 5-string for rehearsal, studio, and stage. The 18 mm string spacing favors clean fingerstyle playing and controlled slap, while the low B string extends the range for modern pop, funk, gospel, rock, and contemporary music. The passive mode is ideal for achieving a more "plug and play" behavior on certain amps and pedals.

The Sound

The basswood body provides a pleasant balance: round lows, present mids, and a consistent response, useful for remaining clear in a mix. The maple neck and maple fingerboard add attack and definition, with a clear high end, perfect for articulated lines and harmonics. The MB JJ Style pickups allow switching from a tight and precise sound (bridge pickup) to a wider, more enveloping tone (neck pickup), or blending both for a versatile balance. The MARKBASS INSTRUMENT PRE preamp with 3-band EQ helps quickly shape the sound according to the venue: more low-end foundation, mids to cut through, or brighter highs, while retaining the active/passive option to adapt the overall character.

Recommended Compatible Accessories

To maintain the original feel and balance, plan for a set of 5-string nickel strings with 40/120 gauge (same gauge as factory setup). A good quality 6.35 mm instrument jack cable is also recommended to fully exploit the active electronics and reduce unwanted noise.
