A "19th Century" Inspiration Within the Martinez Range
With the Special 19th EN, Martinez embraces the spirit of so-called "romantic" guitars, often associated with a lighter aesthetic and highly expressive musicality. This type of instrument highlights nuance, phrasing, and voice clarity-qualities particularly sought after for classical repertoire and pieces played in small ensembles. The Natural HG (glossy) finish enhances the craftsmanship and emphasizes the traditional character of this guitar.
For Which Guitarist and Styles?
The Martinez Special 19th EN is aimed at demanding beginners as well as intermediate players looking for an expressive nylon-string guitar, and advanced musicians who want a more "romantic" body shape. It is especially suitable for classical guitar (studies, salon pieces, romantic repertoire), fingerstyle playing, and arrangements where the balance between bass and treble is as important as pure power.
Sound Characteristics
The solid spruce top delivers a clear attack and excellent note-to-note clarity: it produces bright trebles, a quick response to dynamic changes, and a very appreciable precision in arpeggios. The Bolivian rosewood used for the back and sides adds depth and complexity, with present harmonics and sustain that naturally supports legato playing. Combined with a 630 mm (24.8") scale length, the instrument favors a supple touch while maintaining good note sustain and overall balance.
Recommended Compatible Accessories
To fully exploit this guitar, you can pair it with a nylon string set for classical guitar (gauge chosen according to your touch), a clip-on tuner, and a universal guitar stand. These accessories are compatible without any particular constraints and immediately improve daily playing comfort.
