From the Mercury7 to the "Modular Reverb System": Meris Reverb Steps Up

The MercuryX takes the DNA of the Mercury7 and moves it toward a more modern approach: instead of being limited to "ready-to-use" algorithms, it adopts a modular architecture inspired by the spirit of the LVX. The idea is simple: you start with a Meris reverb (Ultraplate, Cathedra, Room, Hall, Spring, etc.), then transform it by building your own internal chain from processing elements and control signal modifiers. The result: a pedal that behaves like a true studio reverb system but optimized for playing and pedalboard use.

For Which Musicians and Uses?

The MercuryX is aimed at demanding guitarists, keyboardists, and sound designers who want to go beyond "decorative" reverb and make it a full-fledged instrument. In rock and pop, it excels at adding depth without losing attack, with rooms and plates that place your amp "in the room." In ambient, post-rock, electronic, or soundtrack music, it becomes a texture generator: pads, halos, infinite tails, stereo movements, and Freeze effects usable live.

In the studio, it behaves like a serious processor thanks to its level management and careful conversion. On stage, its presets, favorites bank, and expressive controls make instant changes possible without breaking the flow: you can switch from subtle reverb to a wall of sound with one press.

Controls, Presets, Modulation, and MIDI: A Reverb "To Build"

At the heart of the MercuryX is a color screen interface designed for quick navigation through a very deep system. The 99 preset slots (organized into 33 banks) allow you to prepare a full set, while a Favorites bank provides immediate access to 3 key presets. An instant-access tuner is also integrated, with reference mode and configurable output, handy for securing a stage setup.

The "Modifier" section lets you assign control signals to processing parameters: perfect for animating a reverb, opening a filter in the tail, evolving a diffusion, or triggering musical variations while playing. The Hold Modifier switch offers expressive on-the-fly control (ideal for holding, accentuating, or toggling a behavior), and the expression pedal can be assigned to multiple parameters simultaneously for spectacular morphing.

Regarding space, the MercuryX includes an extended stereo pre-delay up to 2.54 seconds, with a modular slot dedicated to feedback routing. Each side of the pre-delay can receive its own note divisions, opening up very musical stereo rhythmic effects. Added to this is an independent Stereo Freeze (separate from the reverb) to freeze a texture while you continue playing over it. Finally, Gate envelope controls are available for each reverb type to achieve more "cut," modern, or gated reverb atmospheres.

Going further, the MercuryX includes new processing elements designed to enrich the reverb: 79 Chorus, Vibrato, Vowel Mod, Tremolo, Hazy Lo-Fi, and other sound-shaping tools. In short: you can design a lush, hi-fi reverb or, on the contrary, an unstable, textured, intentionally degraded atmosphere.

The Sound

The Meris signature is recognized by a sensation of three-dimensional depth and a stereo image that remains clear even when the reverb becomes massive. The algorithms cover a wide spectrum: Ultraplate offers a lush, inspiring plate with fast build-up, while Cathedra targets vast, ethereal spaces with a slower rise, perfect for "science fiction" textures. The 78 Room, 78 Plate, and 78 Hall families are designed to provide realism and movement, with an "amp in the room" feel when you want to make a direct sound more alive.

The Spring and Prism algorithms further expand the palette: the first approaches the spirit of classic springs, while Prism, with its dual tank, invites you to build geometric spaces by playing with size, distance, and reflectivity. Finally, Gravity stands out with its texture-oriented approach, ideal for thickening your sound with pad-like tails and atmospheres that stretch without losing musical character. Thanks to the high-quality analog signal path and powerful DSP, the MercuryX remains responsive: it follows playing nuances and handles both discreet "studio" reverb and total immersion.
