A Compact Morley Wah Designed for Modern Pedalboards

The Tone Questor follows Morley's philosophy: an expressive, robust Wah designed to withstand the rigors of the stage. Its optical (electro-optical) circuit replaces wear-prone mechanisms and limits unwanted noise, while maintaining a comfortable pedal travel despite its compact size. Add an integrated buffer, and you get a Wah tailored for current setups: long cable runs, dense effect chains, and frequent dynamic changes.

Who Is the Morley Tone Questor For?

This Wah pedal is perfect for guitarists who want instant activation (without searching for a footswitch) and quick adjustment of the Wah's behavior depending on the context. Whether in rock, funk, blues, metal, or fusion, it feels equally at home on "talk box-like" rhythms or sharp leads.

Thanks to its adjustable boost, the Tone Questor is especially suitable for musicians alternating between accompaniment and solo, both in studio and live. It also works very well with bass and keyboards for rhythmic filters, tension builds, and more synthetic textures.

Controls and Features: A Wah That Adapts to Your Playing

The Morley Tone Questor relies on a simple yet highly effective approach: two potentiometers to tailor the Wah to your guitar, amp, and place in the mix. The dB control acts as a level control with a boost up to 15 dB : handy to compensate for a Wah sometimes perceived as "scooped," or to push a solo without adding a dedicated boost pedal.

The EQ potentiometer lets you shift the resonance area and overall color of the Wah: higher for a sharp, vocal character, lower for thick, round, and mysterious tones. This is complemented by an integrated buffer (buffered bypass), an LED indicator, and a metal chassis built for the road.

Sound

The Tone Questor delivers a Wah with an expressive and dynamic character, offering an immediate sense of control underfoot. The optical circuit provides silent and smooth operation: the pedal travel remains fluid, and the response to playing preserves clarity, whether you're playing funky clean tones, bluesy crunch, or heavier distortion.

Its real strength is the ability to sculpt your Wah range : by adjusting the EQ, you can go from a bright, biting, and "classic" sweep to a darker, more muted signature, ideal for heavy riffs, atmospheres, or thick rhythms. And with the dB control, you can choose a subtle Wah that respects your overall balance or a Wah that really "pops" to highlight every pedal movement.
