A Reinvented German Heritage
The M1 follows the tradition of great German tube microphones while adopting a decidedly contemporary approach. Its M7 Thiersch Mylar capsule captures the spirit of vintage legends, while the completely redesigned electronics aim for precision, stability, and consistency as a modern studio tool.
Designed for Vocals... and Much More
Ideal for demanding vocal recording, the M1 reveals texture without sibilance and maintains exemplary clarity at high gain. It also excels on acoustic guitars, piano, strings, brass, woodwinds, percussion, or as overheads, thanks to its variable directivity and ability to handle powerful sources without perceptible distortion.
Key Features and Innovations
At the heart of the M1, a completely new circuit optimizes dynamics while minimizing noise. The military-grade Russian tube, chosen for thermal stability and longevity, works in conjunction with dedicated Pikatron transformers (microphone and PSU) to ensure clean transient response, precise stereo imaging, and controlled 200-ohm output impedance.
The continuous directivity range-from omnidirectional to figure-8, including cardioid-facilitates advanced recording techniques (solo, duo, MS, stereo pairs). The "100% cardioid" mode accessible from the PSU offers immediate repeatability in sessions. The robust metal construction and acoustically stable design limit unwanted resonances, while the 7-pin Binder and Neutrik XLR connectors, coupled with the supplied Mogami Neglex 3172 cable, ensure reliable and silent transmission.
Sonically, the extended frequency response from 20 Hz to 20 kHz and the linearity of the internal stage (30 Hz to 20 kHz) provide remarkable fidelity. The low self-noise of 15 dBA preserves micro-details, and the maximum SPL of 124 dB allows for powerful recordings without saturation.

Questions frequently asked
Is the MYBURGH M1 suitable for recording vocals?
Its M7 Thiersch Mylar capsule and sensitivity of 24 mV/Pa are suited for detailed vocal capture. The equivalent noise level of 15 dBA helps preserve nuances on quiet sources.
What polar patterns are available on this valve microphone?
The polar pattern is continuously adjustable between omnidirectional, cardioid, and figure-8 from the external power supply. A 100% cardioid mode is also accessible on the PSU to instantly recall this setting.
Can the M1 be used on loud instruments?
With a maximum SPL of 124 dB, this model can be placed on drums, brass, or as overheads. The stated frequency response ranges from 20 Hz to 20 kHz. The internal preamp stage is linear from 30 Hz to 20 kHz.
What cable is supplied with the microphone?
A 7 m Mogami Neglex 3172 cable is included, with a 7-pin Binder connector on the microphone side and an XLR connection on the external power supply side.
What accessories come with the MYBURGH M1?
The package includes an external PSU with polar pattern selector, a custom M1 case, and a waterproof carrying case. A swivel mount is also provided; the combined weight of microphone and mount is 1.9 kg.
