PRS Silver Sky Defender Sandglow Yellow LTD

An Exceptional Silver Sky in Defender Colors

The PRS Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition Sandglow Yellow celebrates the meeting of John Mayer's world, PRS American craftsmanship and the timeless visual identity of the Defender. This special series draws direct inspiration from John Mayer's personal Defender, whose automotive colors served as the starting point for a collection of four finishes: Arles Blue, Willow Green, Portofino Red and Sandglow Yellow.

With its warm, luminous yellow, the Sandglow Yellow finishing gives this Silver Sky an immediately recognizable personality, enhanced by a matching headstock. This detail, reserved for certain special Silver Sky series, visually extends the body's finishing to the model's distinctive reverse headstock. The exclusive Defender neck plate, engraved with the color name and the wording "1 of 500", highlights this electric guitar's collectible nature.

Behind this exclusive presentation lies the DNA that has made the PRS Silver Sky so renowned: a guitar designed with John Mayer to deliver the response, comfort and musicality of great vintage solidbody models, with particularly refined modern construction. It will appeal equally to demanding guitarists and collectors looking for a genuinely playable limited edition for both the stage and the studio.

An Expressive Electric Guitar for Vintage Feel Enthusiasts

This PRS Silver Sky Defender is particularly well suited to intermediate, advanced and professional guitarists who appreciate responsive, nuanced instruments with plenty of personality. Its bolt-on maple neck features the PRS 635JM-R profile, designed to provide a reassuring, generous feel without being bulky, equally suited to open chords, blues phrases and melodic solos.

The 7.25-inch / 184 mm key radius reinforces the instrument's vintage feel. It naturally facilitates chord playing, organic rhythm parts and dynamic attacks, while providing a familiar sensation for musicians accustomed to classic American guitars. The 22 frets comfortably cover the most common registers in rock, blues, pop, soul, funk and contemporary jazz.

Thanks to its PRS steel vibrato, vintage-style locking tuners and bone nut, this Silver Sky is also a reliable partner for expressive playing. Subtle vibrato, note inflections, sparkling chords or singing phrasing: it responds precisely to the nuances of the picking hand and variations in attack.

The Clear, Lively and Nuanced Character of the 635JM Pickups

The alder solidbody provides a balanced foundation for this Silver Sky's tone. This wood delivers an even response across the spectrum, with firm lows, open mids and present highs without excess. Combined with the bolt-on maple neck and rosewood key, it promotes a crisp attack, excellent note definition and natural sustain.

The three PRS 635JM single-coil pickups give this guitar its sonic identity. In the neck position, it produces round, velvety and detailed tones, ideal for blues, soul accompaniment or warm melodic lines. The middle pickup delivers a precise, versatile balance, while the bridge position is more direct, lively and biting for rock, country or funk rhythm parts.

The 5-way selector also provides access to the two in-between combinations, renowned for their clarity, scooped mids and percussive response. These positions are particularly effective with a clean or lightly overdriven sound when defined chords and rhythm parts that remain clear within a mix are desired. The electronics, consisting of a master volume and two tone controls, make it easy to fine-tune the pickups' brightness and warmth according to the amplifier and playing style.

The PRS steel vibrato completes this design while preserving a dynamic response and smooth touch. The locking tuners make string changes easier while contributing to tuning stability, a valuable advantage for musicians who regularly use the vibrato.

Recommended Compatible Accessories
