With the HP702, Roland is targeting pianists looking for an elegant cabinet digital piano, ready for everyday playing, while retaining a convincing playing response and a sound crafted for performance. The idea is simple: recapture inspiring sensations at the keyboard, enjoy a wide palette of tones, and have useful tools for improving, recording and playing with headphones without losing immersion.

Keyboard design

The Roland HP702 features an 88-key PHA-4 Standard keyboard, designed to reproduce an acoustic feel thanks to a structure with escapement and a pleasant “ivory feel” finish under the fingers. To adapt to your playing, the touch sensitivity offers 100 types, and the hammer response can be adjusted across 10 levels: practical for fine-tuning dynamics, whether you are working on controlled pianissimi or more pronounced attacks.

Sound quality

The sound engine is based on Roland’s SuperNATURAL Piano Modeling technology, designed to deliver a rich and realistic acoustic piano sound with nuanced musical response. The HP702 also provides a total of 324 tones (electric pianos, strings, organs and many more) to vary styles and colors. With a maximum polyphony of 384, you benefit from ample capacity for demanding pieces, sustain pedal playing and layered sounds.

For sound projection, the integrated 2 x 14 W amplification powers 2 12 cm speakers for a clear and balanced sound, ideal for practicing at home and appreciating the details of your touch.

Educational functions

To support daily practice, the HP702 includes a metronome to stabilize the tempo and ensure precise timing. A digital recorder lets you capture your performances so you can listen back, track your progress or share a take. The Dual (layering), Split (keyboard split) and Twin Piano modes provide genuine flexibility, particularly for teaching two players. Finally, the Headphones 3D Ambience effect enhances immersion when using headphones, while compatibility with the Roland Piano Every Day app encourages regular and motivating practice.

Advanced functions

The Roland HP702 is equipped with 2 headphone outputs and comprehensive audio connectivity, including AUX In (for connecting an iPod or another audio player) and AUX Out L/Mono, R, allowing speakers to be connected via a cable fitted with 6.35 mm mono plugs. USB connectivity includes USB to Device (for connecting a computer to transfer performance data between the piano and sequencer software) and USB to Host (for connecting a USB flash drive and recording your performance as an audio file: MIDI files, WAVE files, MP3 files). There is also a Pedal (damper) jack and a DC In input with a Roland PSB-14U adapter. Master tuning is adjustable from 415.3 to 466.2 Hz in 0.1 Hz increments, a valuable feature for tuning with other instruments.
