The CLP-800 Series: The Clavinova Spirit, Expressiveness for Home Use
Within Yamaha's range, the Clavinova CLP-835 is positioned as a furniture-style digital piano designed to bring playing closer to that of an acoustic piano, while offering the versatility expected today: more immersive headphone practice, educational tools for daily progress, and simple connectivity for recording or playing with apps. An ideal solution for the living room, personal studio, or music room, with immediate usability and a dynamic range suited for demanding pianists.
Keyboard Design
The GrandTouch-S 88-key keyboard focuses on a control feel close to acoustic pianos: synthetic ebony and ivory surfaces for better grip, escapement to replicate the let-off point, and fine dynamic response. The 6 velocity curves (hard1, hard2, medium, soft1, soft2, fixed) allow adapting the touch to your technique, from classical repertoire to pop accompaniment, including jazz with its more percussive attacks.
Sound Quality
The CLP-835 relies on two concert signatures: the Yamaha CFX for brilliance and projection, and the Bosendorfer Imperial for warmth and harmonic density. The binaural sampling (CFX Grand and Bosendorfer) enhances spatial sensation on headphones, while the VRM (sympathetic resonances) and piano expression modeling refine dynamic transitions. With 38 voices, a 256-note polyphony, and a 30 W x 2 system driven by 16 cm speakers with diffusers, the sound remains rich, balanced, and lively at both low and high volumes.

Educational Functions
To support progress, Yamaha integrates a metronome with a tempo range of 5 to 500, Dual (layering), Split (keyboard division), and Duo (two identical zones for duet practice) modes. The Piano Room space invites exploration of playing sensations and listening. Content-wise, there are 23 demos, 50 classics, and 303 lesson songs. Tracking is facilitated by the 16-track MIDI sequencer (up to 250 songs, about 500 KB per song, or approximately 22,000 notes) and by WAV audio recording on USB flash drive (up to 80 minutes per song).
