Historical context and position within the range
This Sela Nomo D Kurd 9+3 stands out with its extended configuration, combining nine notes on the top surface with three additional notes underneath the instrument. This layout expands the musical possibilities without changing the basic principle of the handpan: creating melodic phrases through light finger strikes. The model also focuses on an attractive price-to-performance ratio, with professional tuning and a carrying bag included.
Who this handpan is for
This D Kurd handpan is suited to musicians who want to explore a melodic percussion instrument that is both intuitive and expressive. Beginners can start with the upper notes and gradually build their first patterns. Intermediate or experienced players will find additional resources in the three lower notes for varying bass lines, enriching their accompaniment and developing their independence of movement.
Its minor color scale is particularly well suited to contemplative improvisations, acoustic atmospheres and intimate compositions. It also fits naturally into world music, ambient projects or duets with other instruments. The 440 Hz tuning provides a standard reference for playing with musicians tuned to the same pitch, while taking the key of the piece into account.
