A StingRay short scale: the spirit of a classic, with enhanced playability

This Sterling Stingray Short Scale presents itself as a more compact alternative to a traditional "34" / 864 mm" StingRay bass, while retaining the philosophy that made this design successful: a powerful bridge pickup, ergonomics oriented towards both pick and finger playing, and an immediately recognizable sonic identity. The short scale format emphasizes comfort without sacrificing character, making it an excellent option for extended playing sessions without fatigue.

For whom and for which styles

Thanks to its short scale length and nut width of 38 mm / 1.50", this 4-string bass suits both beginners seeking a reassuring grip and intermediate and advanced bassists who want a lively instrument that's easy to transport. It excels in rock, pop, funk, and indie: the bridge humbucker delivers attack and definition, while the tone control allows taming the high end for rounder, more vintage lines.

Sound character: neodymium humbucker, passive, and on-demand boost

The heart of the Stingray Short Scale Charging Green is its Sterling Neodymium Humbucker pickup placed at the bridge: it delivers a dense, precise sound with a nice midrange response and a clear attack that stands out well in a mix. The passive electronics favor natural dynamics and a very expressive touch, ideal for nuanced playing. The tone and Push/Push Volume Boost controls allow quick switching between a rounder tone (tone rolled off, ideal for smooth grooves) and a brighter, more percussive register (tone open, boost engaged) to snap out riffs or picked lines.

Recommended compatible accessories

This bass comes equipped with original Ernie Ball 2852 Regular Slinky Short Scale Bass strings: to maintain the same feel and length suited to the short scale format, you can stick with this gauge and type of string set when replacing them.
