A 3rd Generation That Modernizes the RoomMate Spirit
The RoomMate D'Luxe continues the legacy of T-Rex's RoomMate reverbs, known for their "tube-driven" approach: here, a real tube is part of the signal path to add depth, softness, and a very natural presence. This 3rd generation pushes the concept further with a more complete palette of algorithms, extended controls, and the addition of a Shimmer mode designed for contemporary atmospheres, without losing the warm character that defines the series.
For Which Guitarists and Styles Is the RoomMate D'Luxe Made?
The RoomMate D'Luxe targets musicians who want a premium reverb pedal, easy to dial in but capable of sounding "studio-quality" on stage. It suits blues, rock, pop, indie guitarists looking for a credible spring or plate reverb, as well as fans of ambient, post-rock atmospheres and floating textures thanks to the Shimmer Hall. In live settings, it thickens a clean tone and adds breadth to a lead without drowning it. In the studio, its stereo capability and dynamics make it an excellent candidate for creating realistic depth on guitars, basses, and even keyboards or synths.
Controls, Modes, and Connectivity: A Reverb Designed to Be Played
The RoomMate D'Luxe offers a set of direct and musical controls: Input Gain to adjust the input level, Decay for tail length, Reverb for effect amount, as well as Volume and Tone to place the reverb in the mix and adjust its brightness. An Optional knob completes the set: depending on the chosen algorithm, it allows fine-tuning of behavior (for example, diffusion character or Shimmer balance). The 8 modes are selected via a dedicated switch, and an expression pedal input lets you control the Shimmer to gradually raise the octave and sparkle under your notes-ideal for crescendos, swells, and transitions.
For pedalboard integration, it features stereo connectivity with L and R inputs and outputs on 6.35mm jacks, a footswitch for bypassing the effect, and a status LED. Note: battery operation is not supported; the pedal is designed for a dedicated, stable, and powerful power supply.
Sound Character
The RoomMate D'Luxe's sonic character is distinguished by a full-bodied and organic reverb sensation: the tube adds a softer texture in the high frequencies and a sense of depth that naturally follows the attack. With subtle settings, it provides a "halo" that sticks to the playing, perfect for clean rhythms and arpeggios. Increasing the Decay yields spacious and enveloping halls while maintaining a musical presence rather than a cold, detached reverb. The spring modes evoke a vintage amp-like spirit, while the Shimmer Hall opens the door to more cinematic soundscapes, with a very expressive progressive rise via the expression pedal. Continuing the RoomMate family tradition, it creates a space around the sound, with dynamics that respond to pick nuances and guitar volume.

Questions frequently asked
Does the T-Rex RoomMate D'Luxe operate in stereo?
The L/R inputs and outputs each use two 6.35 mm jacks for a stereo setup. Mono use is still possible by exploiting a single channel.
What power supply is required for the RoomMate D'Luxe?
The required power supply is 12 V DC, with an accepted range from 10.8 to 12.5 V DC and a current of 600 mA; battery operation is not supported.
What reverb modes does this T-Rex pedal offer?
Eight modes are selectable via a dedicated switch. The spring modes aim for a tone inspired by vintage amps, while the Shimmer Hall produces pads with an octave. The Optional setting adjusts certain parameters depending on the chosen algorithm.
Does the built-in tube affect the reverb sound?
The integrated 12AX7 is part of the signal path and provides a softer texture in the highs. The resulting character is described as organic, with depth related to the attack.
Can an expression pedal be used with the Shimmer?
A dedicated input allows connection of an expression pedal to control the Shimmer. The rise of the octave and brightness can thus be managed gradually.
