A UA Legacy Combined in One Chassis

The 6176 condenses Universal Audio's sonic DNA: the 610 preamp originally designed by Bill Putnam and the iconic 1176LN compressor. This channel strip continues the brand's "vintage analog" philosophy while offering modern reliability and ergonomics, becoming a standard for studios seeking the UA signature in a single rack unit.

Who Is It For and What Are Its Uses?

Ideal for vocals, guitars, basses, keyboards, and drum machines, the 6176 excels as a high-end front-end before your interface. From silky clean tones to musical saturation, it offers a wide palette for pop, rock, hip-hop, or electronic music, with responsive compression that controls transients while preserving character.

Key Features and Innovations

610B: Controlled Color and High Headroom - Variable impedance to tailor microphone behavior, front Hi-Z input for instruments, regulated high-voltage power supply for tighter low end, and a -15 dB pad for powerful sources. The shelving EQ allows quick adjustments: "air" on the highs, foundation on the lows.

1176LN: Speed and Precision - The Class A FET compressor delivers ultra-fast attack and harmonic richness that made it famous. In "Join" mode, you sculpt gain staging and dynamics in a single coherent chain; in "Split" mode, each section becomes an independent tool for greater studio flexibility.

Studio Workflow - Ultra-quiet operation, stereo linking possible via 1176-SA, handcrafted in the USA, and proven reliability for demanding sessions.
