What is the Waldorf Blofeld Plug-in For?

Waldorf Blofeld Plug-in is a virtual instrument designed for music production and sound design, both in the studio and for scoring. Thanks to its multitimbral structure, it allows the creation of complete arrangements (evolving pads, solid basses, expressive leads, synthetic effects, and sequences) all within a single plug-in. Its approach combines the precision of wavetables, the warmth of virtual-analog synthesis, and the flexibility of samples, making it suitable for electro, pop, synthwave, techno, ambient, and video game music.

Main Features

A 3-oscillator engine for rich timbres

Each voice includes 3 oscillators capable of working with wavetables, a virtual-analog OSC, and samples. This combination facilitates both "round" classic sounds and metallic, moving, or granular textures. Frequency modulation between oscillators opens the door to complex harmonics, useful for bells, percussive leads, or evolving drones.

Filtering, modulation, and precise control

The sound shaping section relies on 2 independent multimode filters per voice, perfect for sculpting the spectrum in series or parallel depending on the desired character. To animate the sound, you have 3 LFOs (sine, triangle, square, sawtooth, sample & hold, and noise) as well as 4 fast envelopes: enough to create sharp attacks, subtle cutoff movements, organic vibratos, or synchronized rhythmic effects.

Pattern arpeggiator and built-in effects

The plug-in includes an arpeggiator with a freely programmable pattern per sound (up to 16 steps). This is a solid foundation for composing sequenced lines, ostinatos, chopped chords, or trance and techno-style patterns without relying on an external tool. To finalize the sound, each patch benefits from 2 effect slots with a production-oriented selection: Chorus, Flanger, Phaser, Overdrive, Triple FX, Delay, and Reverb.

Waldorf content and Blofeld compatibility

To get started quickly, Waldorf Blofeld Plug-in includes all Microwave II/XT/XTk wavetables as well as the 2008 and 2012 factory presets, supplemented by 20 new additional presets. Blofeld hardware connectivity facilitates hybrid studio use, with editing of all sound parameters and import/export of presets, samples, and wavetables.
