What Nave Plug-in Is For
Nave plug-in is a virtual synthesizer focused on sound design and modern production, designed to bring the power of its wavetable engine into your digital audio workstation. It excels equally at composing cinematic pads in motion, evolving textures, and deep atmospheres, as well as producing cutting leads, massive basses, and rhythmic sequences ready to fit into EDM, synthwave, techno, pop, ambient, or film music. Thanks to its modulation tools and "everything at your fingertips" approach, Nave suits both producers who want to work quickly and sound designers who enjoy sculpting every detail.
Main Features
Two wavetable oscillators and a powerful Uberwave mode
At the heart of Nave, you have two independent wavetable oscillators capable of generating rich, animated timbres. To instantly thicken the sound, the oscillator module can go up to an 8-oscillator Uberwave and offers several basic sources (saw, triangle, PWM) as well as white noise and pink noise. The result: a wide spectrum, ideal for dense layers, modern supersaws, or perfectly controlled granular textures.
3D editing, speech synthesizer, and wavetable creation from audio
Nave is a true "playground" for crafting your own sonic signatures. Its speech synthesizer allows generating wavetables from voice or speech-like forms to achieve articulated attacks, formants, and movements impossible to reproduce with a more traditional synth. You also benefit from 3D wavetable editing to finely shape harmonic evolution, and wavetable generation from external audio files to transform a sample into synthesis raw material.
Multimode filter, ring mod, and adjustable saturation
For tonal sculpting, Nave includes a multimode filter (LP/BP/HP) with 12 dB and 24 dB slopes, suitable for both firm basses and airy pads. Two ring modulators add metallic harmonics, FM-like effects, and experimental colors. Finally, a Drive module with adjustable curve, depth, and position allows adding character, warmth, or controlled aggressiveness depending on the style.
Modulations: envelopes, LFOs, matrix, and arpeggiator
Movement is central to wavetable sound. Nave offers 3 envelopes and 2 LFOs to animate filter, pitch, wavetable, panning, or any strategic parameter. The Modulation Matrix with 10 inputs facilitates complex routings while remaining clear, convenient for creating expressive and "alive" sounds. The arpeggiator complements the set to generate fast patterns, ostinatos, and dynamic sequences synchronized to your project.
Built-in studio effects and mix finishing
Nave includes a production-ready effects chain: a modulation effect choice of Chorus, Flanger, or Phaser, a Reverb, a Modulation Delay, as well as a more "studio" treatment with a 3-band parametric equalizer and compressor. Enough to finalize a sound directly within the instrument, save production time, and maintain sonic coherence during sound design.
Expressive control: Blades, X/Y pads, and polyphonic aftertouch
Beyond the chromatic keyboard, Nave offers dedicated controllers that encourage performance and exploration. The Blades with musical scales and chord mode help quickly find harmonious combinations, while up to 3 X/Y pads allow controlling multiple parameters in one gesture (timbre, filter, effect, modulation depth). Support for polyphonic aftertouch enhances expressivity on compatible keyboards, ideal for making a pad breathe or accentuating a lead line note by note.
Sound management and cross-environment compatibility
Preset management is designed for fast work: user banks, patch categories, and exchange of Sound Patches with the Nave iPad version, convenient if you alternate between mobile creation and studio production. On the power side, the engine offers up to 32 voices and a polyphonic unison mode for wide, imposing sounds.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Waldorf Nave compatible with Mac and Windows?
The plug-in runs on Mac OS X 10.12.x or later, as well as on Windows 7 and Windows 10.
How many voices of polyphony does this wavetable synthesizer offer?
The engine can reach 32 voices of polyphony. A polyphonic unison mode allows sound widening by layering multiple voices.
Can users create their own wavetables from an audio file?
It is possible to generate wavetables from external audio files. The 3D waveform table editor then allows shaping their harmonic evolution, while the speech synthesizer generates speech-inspired waveforms.
What effects are integrated in Nave?
The effects chain includes Chorus, Flanger or Phaser, a Reverb, and a Modulation Delay. A 3-band parametric equalizer and a compressor are also integrated.
Does the synth support polyphonic aftertouch and X/Y controllers?
Up to 3 X/Y pads can control multiple parameters simultaneously. Polyphonic aftertouch support is provided with compatible keyboards.
