Canvas Nano: the missing link between your pedalboard and the front of house
The Canvas Nano Line Isolator embodies the "field tool" spirit: a simple and robust solution to interface a signal coming from a pedalboard, preamp/amp modeller, or active instrument with the front of house. The goal is not to color the sound, but to secure the signal path when transitioning from a guitar environment (asymmetric) to a PA environment (symmetric), with galvanic isolation via transformer to avoid common hum issues.
Who is this Line Isolator for?
The Canvas Nano LI targets musicians who play directly into a mixer (live, rehearsals, houses of worship, small stages), guitarists using a digital rig or preamp, as well as bassists and acoustic guitarists with active electronics. It is also an excellent go-to for home studio users: when hum appears due to a pedalboard power supply, a computer, or a problematic outlet, a well-placed line isolator can save a lot of time.
Features and design: simple, effective, designed for the pedalboard
The Canvas Nano LI converts your asymmetric signal into symmetric via its XLR output while maintaining the level (the signal remains at full volume). Transformer isolation enables a more reliable connection to a mixing console or interface, generally requiring less preamplification gain when using a line isolator. A GND Lift switch is included to lift the ground on the XLR in case of hum, to be activated only when necessary. All of this is housed in a compact enclosure, ideal for staying connected permanently on the pedalboard.
Sound quality
Here, "sound quality" is primarily judged by the absence of audible effect: the Canvas Nano LI aims for transparent reproduction, with a full frequency response and low total harmonic distortion thanks to custom-wound transformers. The result: your attack, dynamics, and the personality of your preamp/amp simulator remain intact, but with a cleaner and more stable signal at the output, especially over long XLR runs and electrically challenging stages.
