A Modern Evolution of the Slö: More Textures, More Control
The Slötvå follows the line of modern "ambient" reverbs that do not merely imitate a room or plate: here, the reverb becomes an instrument in its own right. Based on the spirit of the Walrus Audio Slö, it retains this cinematic approach (pads, movement, depth) while adding new modes and a richer modulation section. The goal is clear: to offer wider, more detailed atmospheres that are especially easier to sculpt within a pedalboard, both in the studio and on stage.
Who Is the Slötvå For? From Minimalist Pedalboards to Ambient Setups
The Walrus Audio Slötvå is aimed at guitarists and bassists seeking a creative reverb to enrich a clean tone, thicken a crunch, or transform a simple part into a soundscape. It excels in styles where space matters as much as notes: ambient, post-rock, shoegaze, indie, worship, film music, live electro, but also as a subtle addition for modern blues or alternative rock.
Thanks to its mono or stereo operation, it fits both compact pedalboards (mono output to an amp) and more elaborate rigs (dual amps, audio interface, stereo chain). The 3 preset memories are particularly practical live: a textured "room" preset, a very long "pad" preset, and an experimental lo-fi preset, accessible without reconfiguring all settings between songs.
Controls, Modes, and Features: A Reverb Designed to Sculpt Movement
The Slötvå offers a comprehensive set of controls to shape the duration, color, and animation of the reverb. The Decay knob adjusts the tail length, while Mix balances the processed signal level against the dry signal, from subtle background to fully immersive reverb bath. Filter allows adjusting the overall tone (darker or brighter) and prevents a pad from overwhelming the spectrum, especially with open chords or upstream delays.
The modulation section adds a very musical dimension: Depth controls modulation intensity, and the waveform selector (Sine, Warp, Sink, Square, Random) radically changes the sense of movement, from gentle floating to intentionally organic instability. The Width control works with a Stereo-Width switch (Wide, Medium, Narrow) to adjust stereo spread and position the reverb in the image: very wide for airy intros, tighter for dense mixes.
The Stretch fader is one of the key elements: it manipulates the sample rate to evolve the texture (grain, definition, lo-fi or hi-fi character). Finally, the X fader acts as a macro-control depending on the program: depending on the mode, it can influence octave volume, attack time, vibrato intensity, delay diffusion, or shimmer intensity, making each mode truly "playable."
For foot control, the pedal offers a Bypass footswitch and a Sustain footswitch: the latter pushes the reverb to its maximum and opens the door to drones, transitions, and held endings. In Dream mode, Sustain can even "freeze" the momentary reverb sound to hold it and create long, flat pads, ideal for building a harmonic bed under a lead.
For clean management in real situations, you have the choice of Trails (natural decay) or No-Trails (abrupt tail cut). The Preset Spillover function prevents any tail cut when switching presets as long as the algorithm remains the same, helping maintain smooth transitions live.
Sound Character
The Walrus Audio Slötvå is a reverb that prioritizes texture and depth : it can remain delicate and enveloping to thicken a clean tone, but it can also become a sound material in itself. Darker modes favor cinematic atmospheres, while brighter modes add airy relief, perfect for suspended chords or singing melodic lines.
Its strength lies in the sense of movement: modulation combined with sample rate control allows going from subtle, silky shimmer to more granular, almost "degraded" pads without losing musicality. Played in stereo, the pedal gives a wider and more immersive sense of space, with a modulable image (Wide/Medium/Narrow) depending on how much room you want to leave for the rest of the mix.

Questions frequently asked
Does the Walrus Audio Släer Black operate in stereo?
The pedal can be used in mono or stereo. The Stereo-Width switch offers Wide, Medium, and Narrow settings to adjust the breadth of the stereo image.
What reverb modes are available?
Five modes are offered: Dark, Rise, Dream, Rain, and Light.
What power supply is required for this pedal?
The pedal requires a 9 V DC power supply with center-negative polarity. The current draw is specified at 100 mA. Therefore, a compatible power adapter is necessary.
Does the Sustain footswitch allow creating soundscapes?
The Sustain footswitch sets the reverb time to maximum to produce drones or sustained transitions. In Dream mode, it temporarily freezes the reverb and holds this soundscape.
How many presets can be stored?
Three preset memories are available. The Preset Spillover function preserves the reverb tail when switching presets using the same algorithm.
