For over a century, Yamaha has crafted pianos designed for both stage and study. The ARIUS series brings this heritage into a console digital piano aimed at beginner pianists, families, and those returning to piano after a break. The goal is simple: to regain a natural touch, a faithful response to intention, and a clear sound across the entire range, so every nuance is immediately highlighted, from scale practice to more expressive pieces.

Keyboard Design

The Yamaha ARIUS YDP-166 is equipped with an 88-key GrandTouch-E keyboard designed to bring the feel closer to that of an acoustic piano: fine dynamic control, more natural feedback under the fingers, and escapement for a more realistic response. The keys feature a synthetic ivory and ebony coating, pleasant during long sessions (better grip, more "piano-like" feel). To suit your playing style, sensitivity offers Hard / Medium / Soft / Fixed settings.
On the pedal side, there is a complete setup with 3 pedals: Damper with half-pedal function, Sostenuto, and Soft. A real advantage for working on repertoire with credible pedal technique, including pieces requiring precise resonance management.

Sound Quality

The sound engine of the YDP-166 is based on sampling of the Yamaha CFX, the brand's iconic concert grand piano. The result is a balanced and clear timbre, with deep bass and bright treble, useful both for studies and lyrical melodies. The maximum polyphony of 192 notes secures rich sustain sequences, layering, and fast passages.
To enhance the sense of spaciousness in a living room, the instrument integrates Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC) and a Stereophonic Optimizer. The built-in amplification system delivers 20 W x 2 and powers two 12 cm speakers with diffusers x 2, to achieve a more focused and homogeneous sound from bass to treble, even at moderate volume.

Built-in Effects

4 types of reverb are available to place your playing in different spaces and add depth. The engine also includes VRM (Virtual Resonance Modeling) in VRM Lite version, which enriches the sensation of resonance and harmonic interactions, for a more "acoustic" experience both on headphones and speakers.
