About the brand Neumann
The origin of all microphones
Many products introduced throughout the company's history have become milestones in professional audio technology. It is no coincidence that when listing their equipment, audio studios almost always place Neumann microphones at the top of the list - they are a recognized sign of highly professional operation.
Our decades of success are based on an uncompromising, quality-focused approach both in the development and manufacturing of our products. On the rare occasions when maintenance is necessary, Neumann Berlin repairs all its microphones produced since the Second World War, largely using original spare parts. This represents a level of service that is hard to match.

The best sound quality
All of this gives the customer the certainty of acquiring a product with unmatched sound quality, reliability, and lasting value, an investment that usually outlives several generations of sound engineers. Although Neumann microphones are certainly not inexpensive, professionals know from their daily experience that they are worth the cost. Many home recording studio owners also dream of having "a real Neumann" of their own.
Besides the countless sound engineers who use Neumann microphones in their studio productions, users include world-renowned musicians. Regardless of the style or generation you prefer, to find users of these high-end Berlin products, the best approach is simply to start by listing your own favorite musicians.

A company with a long history
However, the company which was founded in Berlin in 1928 also long concerned itself with technologies beyond microphones. The versatile inventive pioneer Georg Neumann simultaneously developed phonograph disc cutting machines and rechargeable batteries. The technology of the latter remains the basis of today’s ubiquitous accumulators.
For many years, the company also built highly customized sound production units for radio studios, theaters, and concert halls. In 1991, Neumann became an important part of the Sennheiser group. Since 2010, Neumann has offered this expertise in electro-acoustic transducer technologies to the studio monitoring market and provides optimal solutions to its customers in the areas of TV and radio broadcasting, recording, and audio productions. The company’s headquarters, including development, marketing, sales and service departments, are still located in Berlin, where the company’s 75th anniversary was celebrated in 2003 and the 80th anniversary in 2008.

Quality and precision
For some years now, production under ultra-clean room conditions meeting the highest international standards has been carried out in Wedemark, near Hanover. Despite all advances in machinery and production technology, manufacturing a high-quality microphone involves a great deal of manual work, on which the quality of these transducers and a reputation such as Neumann’s ultimately depend. To meet the operating conditions encountered in studio environments, microphones are tested throughout their production. The capsules alone undergo more than 50 different tests before final assembly.

The next step
At the beginning of 2019, Neumann's first headphone made its debut. The closed-back Neumann NDH 20 headphone combines excellent isolation with a carefully balanced sound image and exceptional resolution that you expect from a Neumann product.
