Designed as a true studio microphone system, the Lewitt LCT 1040 embodies the spirit of the LCT range with a simple aim: to deliver top-level capture with immediate freedom for shaping your sound. Its “palette” approach goes beyond a simple tube microphone: it provides both a tube section and a FET circuit, along with a remote control designed for real-world recording conditions. Development was carried out in close collaboration with renowned engineers and producers, ensuring that every setting is relevant in real-world situations, across vocals, instruments and a variety of setups.

The LCT 1040 is aimed at production studios, advanced home studios and recording environments where tonal quality and control over the source are top priorities. On lead vocals, it lets you quickly choose between modern presence and a warmer texture, while maintaining clear articulation. On acoustic guitar, piano, strings or overheads, the 1-inch condenser capsule and the precision of the FET circuit help preserve attack and definition. For close-miking, the attenuation options and low-cut filter make it easier to manage dynamics and the proximity effect, for clean recordings right from the start.

The creative heart of the LCT 1040 lies in its 4 analog tube characteristics: “Clear” for an open, detailed response, “Warm” for adding density to the midrange and softening the highs, “Dark” for taming a bright source, and “Saturated” for delivering more pronounced harmonic thickness. Combined with the crystal-clear FET circuit, this system makes it possible to find the right balance between precision, musicality and character, without relying solely on software processing.

The remote control: a faster, more reliable studio workflow

Set up the microphone in the recording room, then manage the settings from your listening position: a real advantage when the artist is already in place and every minute counts. The detachable remote control, which can be disconnected from the power supply unit and connected via a standard 3-pin XLR cable, makes adjustments more consistent (you make decisions while listening through your monitors, not on headphones in the booth). The result: less back-and-forth, faster decisions and a smoother artistic direction.

Continuously variable polar patterns: position the source exactly where you want it

The continuously variable polar pattern (omni, wide cardioid, cardioid, supercardioid and figure-eight) lets you fine-tune the balance between direct sound, ambience and bleed. This is particularly useful for “framing” a vocal in a live room, controlling the ambience on an acoustic instrument or optimizing a duo in a figure-eight setup. Add the low-cut filter and attenuation stages, and you have a complete recording tool designed to adapt to the session rather than the other way around.
