The MCM Range: Neumann's Approach to Miniature Stage Microphones

With the Miniature Clip Mic (MCM), Neumann brings its high recording standards to a miniature format, specifically for close proximity and the demands of live performance: reproducible placement, robust mounting, simplified maintenance, and consistent sound from one microphone to another. The modular concept (capsule, mounting, cable, output stage) allows the system to be adapted to different instruments and configurations while maintaining a consistent sonic signature within the same setup.

Who and What: Brass, Sax, Percussion, and Demanding Stages

The MCM 114 SET BRASS/SAX/UNI is aimed at musicians and sound engineers seeking a high-end solution for amplifying acoustic instruments without sacrificing the natural timbre. Whether on a brass section, a saxophone soloist, a brass band, an orchestra pit, a tour, or a TV set, it helps achieve a present and detailed sound, with a useful cardioid directivity to better manage monitors and feedback.

Thanks to its field-oriented design, this set is also suitable for situations where placement stability is crucial (quick changes, multiple inputs, shared backline), as well as for instruments with high dynamic range where one wants to avoid the "microphone saturation" effect while retaining finesse.

Design and Performance: A Miniature Microphone with High-End Brand Standards

KK 14 Capsule: Tonal Balance and Consistency

The cardioid KK 14 capsule aims for a balanced sound, with more body in the low and low-mid frequencies and excellent clarity in the high frequencies, to remain musical without harshness. Neumann emphasizes manufacturing consistency: when multiple microphones are used on stage, time is saved during placement and equalization because the behavior remains uniform from one capsule to another.

High Headroom and Low Self-Noise

With a very low specified self-noise and a very high maximum SPL, the set performs comfortably on very loud sources (brass instruments at close distance) as well as on more delicate passages. The result is a stable recording with headroom and dynamics that remain credible even in a dense mix.

Quick Mounting, Precise Placement

The set includes a SH 150 gooseneck and an MC 6 clip allowing reliable positioning on bells and other common situations. The mounting is designed for quick setup, often with one hand, with lockable orientation increments (45 degrees) to easily reproduce placement from one concert to another.

Complete Pack with Useful Accessories

The system comes with a WS 110 windscreen to better manage air movements and stage conditions, a KC 1 cable tie to secure cable routing, and an MCM 100 output stage for high-quality wired use. Everything is stored in a practical soft case suitable for touring.

This pack includes:
