A streamlined version of the Raster universe: the essentials, without compromise

The RD-1 Pitch Delay draws directly from Red Panda's philosophy: creative and ultra-musical effects, but here reduced to the essentials to favor immediacy. Designed based on the Raster, it incorporates the core algorithms of the brand and applies them to a performance-oriented format: a clear and precise delay, capable of staying tame... or switching to experimental territory via pitch and frequency shifting in the feedback loop. The result: a pedal that covers classic needs while offering a real sonic "twist" when you push the repeats.

Which guitarists (and styles) is the RD-1 made for?

The RD-1 is aimed both at musicians seeking a clean and reliable delay and at tinkerers who want to transform their repeats into living material. It excels in ambient, post-rock, shoegaze, indie, film music, electronic, and sound design, but is equally effective in rock and pop when you want to thicken a lead, add a modern slapback, or create rhythmic echoes at tap tempo.
On a pedalboard, the RD-1 naturally sits after distortion pedals for clear repeats, or earlier in the chain for deliberately unstable textures. In the studio, it becomes an arrangement tool: subtle micro-detuning to widen a take, long atmospheric reverse for transitions, or "climbing" feedback for dramatic build-ups.

Controls, modes, and functions: direct, musical, playable

The RD-1 is designed to be manipulated in real time. The concept is simple: you set your delay time and feedback, then choose how the repeats will transform. You can apply a single modification (one shift per repeat) or, conversely, evolve the signal continuously in the feedback loop to get repeats that ascend or descend indefinitely.
Regarding tuning, the pedal offers micro pitch shifting / detune to thicken and slightly "chorus" the repeats, as well as chromatic transposition up to +/- 12 semitones for more pronounced intervals. The frequency shifting (+/- 500 Hz) opens the door to more metallic, phased, or downright extraterrestrial colors, particularly effective when you dial the feedback to "spin" the texture.
To stay locked to tempo, the RD-1 includes a tap tempo with subdivisions (quarter note, eighth note, dotted eighth). An expression pedal can be assigned to any combination of knobs or push buttons: ideal for moving from a subtle delay to a feedback and pitch rise in one motion, or to control a specific parameter without letting go of playing. Finally, the presence of a USB-C port allows firmware updates.

Sound

The RD-1 delivers a clean, defined, and modern digital delay, with excellent attack clarity: perfect for precise rhythms, sixteenth-note patterns, or a crisp slapback. Where it stands out is in how it makes the repeats "musical" as they transform: pitch shifting and detune can remain subtle and organic to widen the sound, or become boldly expressive with deliberate intervals. In reverse mode, the pedal takes on a more cinematic dimension: long, enveloping tails ideal for intros, transitions, and ambient beds.
The dynamics are very enjoyable to play: the RD-1 responds well to input level and playing intensity, and its performance-oriented design encourages sculpting the sound live, from "utility" delay to moving textures that become almost an instrument in their own right.
