It is particularly well suited to stages where you want a “premium” vocal sound without harshness, while keeping feedback under control. In hypercardioid mode, it becomes an excellent ally on crowded stages, with nearby wedges or high sound pressure levels.

Switchable polar patterns and internal design: precision, control and ease of use

Thanks to its dual capsule, the KSM9-HS offers two complementary polar responses. The subcardioid setting delivers a more natural and forgiving pickup, with an airy feel and smoother handling of movement. The hypercardioid setting focuses more tightly on the source and improves resistance to feedback, which is useful when the stage is noisy or monitors are very prominent.

Less proximity effect, greater consistency

The KSM9-HS is designed to minimize the proximity effect, helping maintain a balanced vocal sound even when the singer moves closer to or farther from the microphone. The result: less unpredictable low-end “buildup,” a voice that is easier to EQ, and a more consistent sound from one song to the next.

Class A preamp and internal suspension: clean capture, even in live conditions

Its Class A preamp and high-grade components are designed to deliver faithful reproduction, with an excellent transient response that preserves consonant attack and the detail of vocal expression. The two-stage suspension limits handling noise, a real advantage for mobile singers, handheld microphone passages, or stages where every detail matters.
