A Premium Clonewheel That Respects Hammond Tradition
The Hammond XK-5 sits at the top of the range for keyboardists seeking the attack, dynamics, and character of a great Hammond organ without the constraints of a vintage instrument. It combines advanced tonewheel modeling, "old-school" ergonomics (drawbars, presets, dedicated controls), and modern MIDI integration to instantly switch from classic registrations to more complex stage setups.
Keyboard Design
The XK-5 features a 73-note Waterfall keyboard in total (61 playing keys + 12 Preset keys), designed for organ playing: clear attacks, fast repetitions, natural glissandos, and palm smears. The Split function benefits from a dedicated control panel and an assignable split point to organize Upper/Lower or structure zones according to your playing style. Support for an optional pedalboard is provided with dedicated management for 25 notes.
Sound Quality
The MTW (Modeled Tone Wheels) engine is designed to closely reproduce organ behavior, with 61-note polyphony for the keyboard and 5 notes for the pedals. Regarding tones, the instrument offers 4 keyboard voicings (A-100, B-3, C-3, Mellow) and 4 pedal voicings (Normal, Muted, Synth 1, Synth 2). Customization continues through Custom Tone Wheel (CTW): 3 Factory and 3 User settings for A-100/B-3/C-3/Mellow, with adjustable parameters for each tonewheel, ideal for tailoring projection, warmth, and character to your amplification.

Each effect features adjustable parameters to precisely control the tone, from subtle modulation to pronounced effects. The equalization combines a Master Equalizer (Bass/Mid/Treble) with adjustable gain and adjustable mid frequency, a programmable equalizer (Bass/Mid/Treble, adjustable mid frequency), and a Hammond Preamp Tone Control to finalize the overall voicing.
For tone grit, the XK-5 includes an Overdrive selectable between Tube or Solid State with adjustable level, as well as a Tube Preamp (12AU7 and 12AX7 tubes) with adjustable Drive. The MT Matching Transformer adds a more "alive" response with adjustable Drive, Hysteresis, and level settings for upper/lower/percussion. The Leslie section is very advanced (STOP/FAST/BYPASS, customizable cabinets, speeds, transitions, balances, and microphones), complemented by a reverb with Leslie On Reverb ON/OFF option.
