A New Generation of FBV Controllers Designed for the Stage
The FBV 3 continues the legacy of Line 6 control pedals with a clear "live" focus: direct access to banks, sounds, effects, and essential functions without taking your hands off your instrument. The idea is simple: keep your hands on the guitar while controlling your compatible amp or processor in real time. Its robust format and readable interface make it a natural partner for the Spider, AMPLIFi, Firehawk, and POD HD series.
For Which Guitarists and Uses?
The Line 6 FBV 3 is aimed at guitarists who use presets and effects throughout a set: rock, pop, blues, metal, cover bands, worship, or any context where quick sound changes are needed. In live settings, it allows seamless transitions between verse, chorus, and solo with clean, repeatable changes. In the studio or at home, it becomes a practical tool to trigger the tuner, adjust a wah/volume pedal, or test sound variations without interrupting playing.
Whether you are a beginner (just wanting to switch from a clean sound to distortion) or an experienced musician (with full banks, assigned effects, and Tap Tempo), the FBV 3's ergonomics help structure your playing: fewer manipulations, more fluidity.
Controls, Control Modes, and Connectivity: Everything at Your Feet
The FBV 3 combines dedicated footswitches for bank and preset selection, switches to control effects, and essential stage commands. The LED rings facilitate instant function identification: on compatible devices, five footswitches feature assignable multicolor LEDs, while with other Line 6 products the LEDs display in red. The backlit LCD screen shows the current preset and useful information, and the built-in chromatic tuner ensures your tuning between songs.
The built-in expression pedal, with its wah/volume switch, allows control of continuous parameters (volume, wah, and depending on the device, other assignable parameters). The dedicated Tap Tempo footswitch quickly synchronizes time-based effects like delay or echo. Note: when used with a Spider IV or Spider Valve MKII amp, the FBV 3 cannot serve as an interface between the amp and computer for updates; this function requires an FBV MKII series pedalboard (Shortboard or Express).
Sound
The FBV 3 is not an audio effects pedal: it does not color the sound and adds no gain, modulation, or EQ. Its impact lies elsewhere, and it is significant: it allows you to fully exploit the sounds of your Line 6 amp or multi-effects with faster, cleaner, and more musical changes. In practice, the "sound" you gain is better control of playing dynamics (volume pedal), rhythmic placements (Tap Tempo), and transitions between sounds (presets and effects) without breaking the performance.

Perfect, just perfect, for integration with my Firehawk 1500 (it would be the same with a Spider V I think). However, beware the colored LEDs only work with these two devices, with others the LEDs will all remain red as on the PODHD500X for example. Otherwise what to say, it is built like a Tank, super solid, fairly precise tuner, fairly accurate tuner, pleasant tap tempo, expression pedal easy to use and switch vol/wah by pressing it, and especially with the Firehawk 1500, the Looper is managed with a single assignable Footswitch, which is much easier than with the POD HD500X and its 4 switches. In short, I recommend it, especially to those who use the Spider V or the Firehawk 1500 in stand alone mode. Not necessarily useful for others who use these amps to amplify their modeling pedalboard.

Questions frequently asked
Is the Line 6 Footswitch FBV3 compatible with Spider amps and POD HD processors?
The footswitch is designed to control compatible Line 6 gear from the Spider, AMPLIFi, Firehawk, and POD HD series. The available functions depend on the device it is connected to.
Does the expression pedal control wah and volume?
The built-in expression pedal has a wah/volume switch. Depending on the Line 6 device used, it can also control other assignable parameters.
Does the FBV 3 alter the guitar sound?
No audio processing is added: the FBV 3 does not color the sound nor apply gain, modulation, or EQ.
Is there a tuner and a Tap Tempo on this footswitch?
The backlit LCD displays the active preset and useful information. A built-in chromatic tuner allows tuning control. The dedicated Tap Tempo footswitch synchronizes time-based effects like delay or echo.
