The CLP-835: The Clavinova Spirit at the Balance Point of the CLP Series
Designed to bring the digital piano experience closer to that of an acoustic instrument, the Yamaha Clavinova CLP-835 sits at the heart of the CLP range with a clear ambition: to offer a credible touch, nuanced dynamic response, and iconic concert grands, while simplifying daily practice. At home, it enhances playing comfort and headphone listening; in creative environments, it becomes a connected digital piano, convenient for recording and controlling musical tools.Keyboard Design
The 88-key GrandTouch-S keyboard combines a mechanism crafted for precision and control with synthetic ebony and ivory surfaces that improve grip, even during long sessions. The escapement mechanism reinforces the "grand piano" sensation in both pianissimo and more forceful attacks. To tailor the response to your playing, the touch sensitivity offers six settings: hard1, hard2, medium, soft1, soft2, and fixed. The pedal section includes a set of 3 pedals (Damper with half-pedal, Sostenuto, Soft), featuring GrandTouch pedals for a more natural travel. Assignable functions extend usage (effect control, song playback, variations), allowing you to customize the instrument to your workflow.
Sound Quality
The sound foundation relies on two concert stage references: Yamaha CFX and Bösendorfer Imperial. With headphones, binaural sampling (CFX Grand and Bösendorfer) enhances the sense of space and positioning for a more realistic listening experience. Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) and Piano Expression Modeling contribute to a more organic response by considering the interaction between playing, resonances, and the pedal system. For versatility, the CLP-835 includes 38 voices and a maximum polyphony of 256 notes to secure passages rich in pedal use and layering. The 2 x 30 W amplification powers 2 x 16 cm speakers with diffusers to maintain balanced projection and clear stereo even at moderate volume.
Built-in Effects
The effects section offers ready-to-play musical ambiances: reverbs (4 types), chorus (3 types), brightness adjustment (7 types + user), and 12 insert effects to shape character (presence, depth, warmth). Intelligent Acoustic Control (IAC) helps maintain tonal balance at low volume, while the Stereophonic Optimizer improves listening comfort, especially with headphones.Technical specifications
